OUR APPROACH
DevStats provides a powerful platform for measuring engineering performance, but powerful tools only deliver value when teams know how to use them. Their existing documentation suffered from a messy information architecture and explained what each metric was without showing how to actually use it. The result: prospects struggled to grasp the product's value during evaluation, and existing users weren't getting the depth of insight the platform could offer. The challenge wasn't the product, it was making the product legible.
OUR SOLUTION
We rewrote the documentation from the ground up, translating a tangled structure into a clean information architecture organized around how engineering leaders actually think about DevOps metrics. Every metric received a dedicated section with concrete examples showing what good and bad numbers look like in practice.
Beyond explaining individual metrics, we built guidance on how to combine metrics to investigate real developer problems, turning isolated data points into a diagnostic toolkit. This expert-level usage advice transformed an abstract analytics product into one with clear, actionable workflows. The written documentation was paired with video content walking through each metric, giving users two complementary ways to learn depending on their preference.
THE RESULT
DevStats reported a 50% increase in deal closing rates after the documentation overhaul. Prospects evaluating the platform could now immediately see how DevStats would fit into their workflow. The docs became a sales asset, not just a support resource.
For existing users, the impact was just as significant: engineering teams quickly understood what each metric measured, how to interpret it, and how to combine signals to investigate problems in their own organizations. The documentation closed the gap between having engineering metrics and acting on them, which is where the real value of a DevOps analytics platform lives.
